What is the fastest growing source of alternative energy? You might be surprised or confused. There are many articles out on the web that claim Solar Power was/is the fastest going segment of renewable energy but... perhaps the pretty picture gave it away. Wind Power is the fastest growing source of renewable energy. Read more to find out why.
Megawatts, stats, terminology, cool facts - how much does one of those gigantic Windmills actually cost?
From Planet Green... Did you know that in the between 2000 and 2006, worldwide wind energy generation quadrupled? And that according to the DOE's Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy department, the United States saw its wind energy capacity increase a respectable 6.5 times in the last seven years?
But the really staggering growth has come on an international front—for instance, Spain now meets 40 percent of its energy demands by wind power alone.
And the wind power craze isn't going to slow anytime soon. On the contrary, the innovation and progress should only accelerate. Norway is considering lining its massive coastline with offshore wind turbines to export power to all of Europe. Chinese wind power is set for a bug expansion. And the Queen of England bought the biggest wind turbine in the world. It all adds up to a thriving alternative energy industry that we can expect to see become a pillar of the international energy economy—and one of our best bets for a fossil fuel free existence in the future.
